Prepared for Doug and the team · Riviera Tiles Carpet World · July 2026

The best reviewed flooring store in Bairnsdale is the hardest one to find.

You asked what it would take to get Riviera Tiles Carpet World showing up when locals search for floor coverings. I spent a few days pulling the real numbers on Bairnsdale and the East Gippsland corridor. Here is what I found, who you are up against, and how I would go about it. No costings in here, as agreed. This is the lay of the land first.

Put together by Matt Rowlands, Your Mate Agency using Google search data, Google Business Profiles and every competitor website in the catchment.

Where you stand

The good news first: customers already rate you above everyone.

Before anything else, understand what you are sitting on. Your Google reviews beat every flooring and tile business from Sale to Lakes Entrance. That is the hardest asset in local search to build, and you already own it.

4.7★
Your Google rating from 49 reviews. The best of any flooring or tile store in the region.
110+
People searching "carpet world bairnsdale" every month. Your name has real pull.
10
Monthly searches for "riviera tiles". The tile half of the business is nearly invisible online.
1/5
Roughly how much of your Carpet World page is actually about your store. The rest is franchise template.

What's actually going on

None of this is anything you've done wrong. The Carpet World page was built to be one of seven franchise store pages, and it does that job fine. What it was never built to do is carry a business that's half tiles, with the best reviews in the region behind it. So your reviews, your range and the whole Riviera Tiles side end up doing their work everywhere except the page people actually land on. That's the gap, and it's very fixable.

The market

What East Gippsland actually types into Google.

These are real monthly search numbers for Victoria. Two things jump out. First, your brand name out-pulls every generic flooring term in town. Second, the biggest keyword in the whole local market is a competitor's name, and it is a tile brand.

Worth knowing: "carpet court bairnsdale" gets 20 searches a month and there is no Carpet Court in Bairnsdale. People assume the big brands are here. The store that answers those searches wins them.

What this means

Beaumont has taught the town to search for tiles using their name. Nobody has done that for carpet or general flooring yet, and your own brand already gets more searches than any generic term. The searches are happening either way. They just need somewhere better to land.

Search coverage

Who shows up when Bairnsdale searches, product by product.

I ran the actual searches from Bairnsdale. This is who appears in the map results and the top organic spots for each product type. Look at the tiles and timber rows.

The tiles row is the whole story

You told me the Carpet World banner only covers half the business. Google backs you up on that. For tile searches your only appearance is your Facebook page, while Beaumont holds the top result, the map panel and the knowledge box. And for timber, a Melbourne online store with no Bairnsdale showroom outranks every local because nobody local has proper pages for it. Those are winnable rows.

The competition

Each competitor, honestly: what they do well, where they are soft.

Wood Street Flooring & Interiors

Macleod St, Bairnsdale · 4.1★ from 16 reviews

Doing well

  • Only local flooring store with its own website, so it wins the number 1 organic spot for "flooring bairnsdale" almost by default
  • 15+ years of local reputation, full range including tiles

Where they are soft

  • Site is dated and thin. Product browsing is pushed off to partner websites
  • Ranks for just 14 search terms in total. Roughly 15 visits a month
  • No online selling, no trade offer, ratings well below yours

Beaumont Tiles Bairnsdale

Main St, Bairnsdale · 4.0★ from 23 reviews

Doing well

  • Owns tile searches outright. Their name alone pulls 170 searches a month, the biggest keyword in the local market
  • Polished national site, bathroom package positioning

Where they are soft

  • Their store page is a national template. Zero genuinely local content
  • Tiles only. No carpet, no flooring install story, no whole-house offer
  • Rating is beatable and you already beat it

Gippsland Tile Importer

The big showroom on the highway coming into Bairnsdale · the serious independent tile player

Doing well

  • Position you can't buy: theirs is the first flooring showroom people pass driving into town, and it's a big one
  • Modern, fresh website with online ordering. 200+ ranges
  • Runs the only trade program in the region: discounted trade pricing and priority service for ABN holders

Where they are soft

  • Barely visible in search beyond their name. 16 terms, about 30 visits a month, so the highway is doing more work than the website
  • Tiles only. No carpet, no whole-house story, no educational content answering buyer questions

Bairnsdale Carpet Warehouse

Peart St, Bairnsdale · 4.3★ from 16 reviews

Doing well

  • Tops the map pack for "carpet bairnsdale" on the strength of its Google profile alone

Where they are soft

  • No website at all. Facebook only, and the page hasn't seen much love lately
  • That a business with no site can top carpet searches says more about how quiet the field is online than anything else

Karma Flooring (Melbourne, online)

No local showroom, still ranks number 1 for timber terms here

Doing well

  • Simple "flooring type + town" pages rank top for timber, laminate and hybrid searches in Bairnsdale because no local contests them

Where they are soft

  • No showroom, no install relationships, no local trust. A proper local page with your reviews attached beats this the moment it exists

The corridor: Sale & Lakes Entrance

Where the catchment extends once Bairnsdale is locked

The picture

  • Sale: Carpet Court franchise sits on 3.7★, the weakest rated store in the region. Smaller independents rate well but are tiny online
  • Lakes Entrance, half an hour up the road: one Carpet Court and a Facebook-only tile shop. Thin cover for a whole town

The catch

  • Searches from Sale get flooded with national "carpet sale" discount pages. Standing out there takes deliberate work, which is a later conversation

What you're sitting on

Reviews: you already lead the whole region. Barely anyone can see it.

Review count and rating, every flooring and tile store from Sale to Lakes Entrance. You have more reviews than anyone and the second highest rating, behind only a much smaller store. This is what Google trusts most, and what your current page never mentions.

The easiest win on this page

Twenty years of trading, and your listings have drifted a bit.

This happens to every long-running local business. Directories pile up, owners change, and keeping them all matching is nobody's job. It matters because Google decides local rankings partly by cross-checking your name, address and phone across the web, and right now the versions don't quite agree. Here's what each one says.

Why it's worth the tidy-up

When every listing agrees on one name, one address and one phone number, Google stops second-guessing and starts ranking you on merit. On merit, you're the best reviewed store in the region. This is the cheapest lift on the whole page, and it makes everything after it work harder.

How I would go about it

Three phases. Each one earns the next.

You said get the name in front of people first, push further later, maybe sell online down the track. That is the right order, and it maps cleanly onto three phases. No costings here as agreed. When we talk, we scope whichever slice fits.

1

Own your patch

Foundation · the "get our name out there" phase

  • Your own website, covering the whole business under one roof: carpet, tiles, timber, vinyl, hybrid, blinds and rugs. Riviera Tiles front and centre, not a footnote. Photos of the actual showroom and the people in it. The Carpet World page stays and links to it, so you lose nothing.
  • One name everywhere. Pick the trading name, then fix Google, White Pages, Yellow Pages, hipages, Facebook and Instagram so every listing agrees on name, address, phone and email. Retire the bigpond address.
  • Google Business Profile rebuild. Sort the Lucknow versus Bairnsdale East mess, add tile store as a category, load real photos and products, and put your 4.7 stars to work.

Why first: every search in this document ends at either your Google profile or a website. Once both actually represent the business, everything after this has somewhere solid to land.

2

Get found first

Growth · win the searches you currently lose

  • A page for every product type people search for: tiles, timber, vinyl, hybrid, laminate, carpet. This is how a Melbourne online store beats locals for timber searches here. Local pages plus a local showroom plus the best reviews in town beats them back.
  • A steady review engine. You are at 49 reviews. A simple ask-every-happy-customer habit widens the lead every month without anyone having to chase it.
  • Answer the questions buyers actually type, like cost ranges and product comparisons. The search data shows "prices" and "cheap" attached to nearly every flooring term. The store that answers honestly gets the visit.

Why second: these pages only convert once phase 1 gives them somewhere trustworthy to live.

3

Sell and scale

Expansion · the "go really far with it" phase

  • Product catalogue online, moving toward selling off the site. You raised this yourself, and the vinyl search results already show Bunnings and Harvey Norman product carousels eating local searches. A catalogue keeps you in that game.
  • A trade offer. Gippsland Tile Importer runs the only trade program around, and it is tiles only. A whole-floor trade account, carpet plus tiles plus timber under one account for builders, is wide open. Your trade network is the natural launch pad.
  • Point it at the corridor. With Bairnsdale locked, extend to Sale and Lakes Entrance where the franchise competition is at its weakest rated.

Why third: selling online and courting trade both trade on the credibility phases 1 and 2 build. Done first, they would sit on sand.
